NASA’s Toyota Partnership Expands to Include All-New GR Corolla
By now, all NASA members know that every Toyota GR Supra and GR86 sold comes with a one-year NASA membership and one complimentary day in NASA’s High Performance Driving Event program.
NASA and Toyota have just announced they are expanding the program to include buyers of Toyota’s all-new GR Corolla, which debuted last Thursday and is already an instant hit.
“The GR Experience was incredibly successful with Supra buyers when it began in 2019, and it is becoming even more popular with buyers of the GR86 sports coupe,” said NASA Chief Operating Officer Jeremy Croiset. “Now, with the introduction of the new Toyota GR Corolla, I can think of no better way to help more enthusiasts get the most enjoyment from their new GR Toyotas, and to help them become better and more confident drivers on and off the track!”
The new GR Corolla is powered by a lightweight and compact turbocharged three-cylinder engine that makes 300-horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque delivered to an all-wheel-drive system that gives drivers a choice of 60-40, 50-50 or 30-70 power distribution to the front and rear wheels. Peak torque comes on from 3,000 to 5,500 rpm, with peak horsepower coming on at 6,500 rpm. The new GR Corolla will be offered only with a manual transmission.
Of course, the complimentary yearlong NASA membership allows GR Supra, GR86 and GR Corolla owners to get more HPDE instruction at different tracks in their home regions and around the country.
“It has been especially rewarding to work with Toyota in putting this program together, and we’re excited to see its continued growth,” Croiset said. “The instruction these drivers are exposed to in NASA’s HPDE program is second to none, and we’re thrilled that Toyota has placed its confidence in us yet again.”
